WHAT WPC EXCELLS AT
WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) is manufactured by blending wood flour with thermoplastics. Because the organic wood material is entirely encased in plastic, it becomes 100% waterproof and 100% termite-proof.
WPC thrives in hostile environments where ordinary wood would swell, rot, or delaminate. It is the undisputed champion for bathroom vanities, exterior door frames (Chowkhats), utility wash zones, and ground-contact cabinetry. If standing water is a possibility, WPC is your answer.
WHAT PLYWOOD EXCELLS AT
Plywood is made by cross-banding sheets of wood veneer and pressing them together with high-strength resins. This cross-grain construction gives plywood an incredibly high strength-to-weight ratio and exceptional screw-holding capacity.
While WPC can struggle to hold heavy screws or support massive weights without bowing over long spans, premium plywood (like our Club 710) is built for heavy lifting. It is the mandatory choice for tall wardrobe doors, heavy living room furniture, deep cabinetry, and any application requiring robust traditional joinery.
WPC VS PLYWOOD: SIDE-BY-SIDE
| Factor | NationTuff WPC | NationTuff Plywood |
|---|---|---|
| Water Resistance | 100% Waterproof. Will not swell. | Highly resistant (BWP grade) but not meant for standing water. |
| Termite Resistance | 100% Termite-Proof. | Chemically treated to be highly borer & termite resistant. |
| Load Bearing & Strength | Moderate. May bow over very long unsupported spans. | Exceptional. Handles heavy structural loads with ease. |
| Screw Holding | Good, but requires specific hardware techniques. | Excellent. Hinges and tracks stay firmly locked in place. |
| Best Applications | Bathrooms, under-sinks, door frames, exterior trim. | Wardrobes, beds, modular kitchen carcasses, heavy shelving. |
THE HYBRID APPROACH: USING BOTH
The best interior designers and contractors don't choose between WPC and Plywood; they use both strategically.
- In a Modular Kitchen, use WPC for the carcass directly under the sink, and use BWP Plywood for the overhead cabinets and heavy drawers.
- For Doors, use WPC Chowkhats (frames) that touch the wet floor, paired with dense Plywood or WPC flush doors depending on the room's exposure.
